Test Drive 6

Well hello there!

I have just been reading all the info and going on to various sites about Del.icio.us and Library Thing.

I can see that a lot of people and libraries all over the world use this and what a great job!!
I have learnt a lot doing all of these Licence2testdrive activities. There is just so much technology out there, and i am sure that this is just the tip of the iceberg!

Hi there!

Well today I learned all about RSS feeds. I have signed up on blogsline and searched some feeds that i thought that i would find interesting. I have added these sites to my favourites list and will now be receiving daily updates on the sites that i have chosen. It was so easy, anyone could do this. I will now enjoy daily updates and find out new and interesting things about the sites that i am interested in. this is great!!

Social Networking

Well, today I have learnt about social networking. The advantages of using social networking within the library services are huge. You could put up postings of what events might be happening around the different libraries, for example, the Young Peoples Library are having a pirate day and Victoria Point Library. They could do up a page advertising all about this day and what events will be on during the day. Also, recently we had a living library day, that we held on a Saturday. That would have been great to advertise this on a social networking page.

I have gone in and signed up for facebook. This will be great, as I have lots of friends in other states that I can keep in touch with, also relatives that travel alot, so I can keep intouch with them and their travels.

What Wiki fun!

Well hello there everyone!

Today I have had an introduction to the world of wiki-ing! Oh what fun. This opens up a whole new world of technology for me. How useful & interesting it is to be able to wiki. I didnt know just how much it is used throughout the world, in all walks of life, from schools to business to the elderly, anyone can use it, and oh so easy!

Well, i have just been shown how to use flickr. What a great tool to use!

I think that this would come in handy, both at work and for personal use. You can save all of your photos, and send them to family and friends all over the world, without the expense of having photos developed and posting them off.

At work, if you are doing up a brochure up for circulation within the community, you have access to all sorts of photos that could come in handy & make your presentation look great!

FYI, i chose these flowers in hope that maybe someone might send me some!!!

My first steps

Well, this is my first attempt at blogging. With regards to what I would like to learn from this course is the fact that my children are so up to date with the most current technology available, and I have no idea what they seem to be talking about. EG: blogging, wiki, facebook etc, so I am hoping to come away from here with some great new facts about this technology.

I like the fact that I can learn constantly about new things that are happening with this latest technology. Life to me is one big lesson, you are constantly learning all the time. Whether it be life experiences or learning new things at work, I think that sometimes we have to be like little sponges taking in all the information that we possibly can to keep up with the lastest in the computer world.

I have had a look at some other blogs, and discovered that you can write just about anything you want to, whether it is about the weather, your family and friends or even if you are planning a trip overseas. It seems to be a great form of communication.

Using a blog within the library system could be very beneficial, as far as letting other library staff at the different branches and locations know what is going on in the different areas. Whether it be a meeting that might be taking place, or a course that is being run, you could use a blog for this.

You could use a blog in the library system to let clients know what activities are going to be on at each library branch. Example of this could be childrens activities, or computer lessons for seniors, the list is endless.
